biography
DJ Peter Gunz has conquered everything there is to achieve in the Australian market, while also making his mark on the international scene.
He's performed alongside the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B - Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Ne-Yo, Nelly, Akon, DMX and Ice Cube just to name a few - and has also supported local acts such as Savage, Scribe, Hilltop Hoods, Phrase and countless others.
Gunz has also been nominated twice as Best Club DJ (Australia) at the 2006 and 2007 Urban Music Awards. He was voted as one of the top DJs in the country by those who really count - the general public.
More than any other DJ in Australia, Gunz is known for his ability to break the newest hip-hop, R&B, crunk and dancehall tracks while keeping the dancefloor packed.
After a decade of residencies in the hottest clubs in Sydney and performing at every club of note across both Australia and New Zealand, Gunz attracted the attention of New Zealand's premier hip-hop record label, Dawn Raid Entertainment. Performing with Dawn Raid's all-star roster of talent - names such as Savage, the Deceptikonz and Aaradhna - Gunz rocked crowds across Australia and New Zealand with the heavyweights of New Zealand hip-hop, including performing at the 2005 Big Day Out with the Deceptikons.
In January 2006, Gunz released his first official mixtape, Street Dreams. After the release of the CD, Gunz toured Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific Islands as part of the massively successful Street Dreams tour. The official launch party in Sydney attracted over 2500 people to SPACE nightclub.
Following the success of the Street Dreams tour and CD, Gunz followed it up with a performance with Savage at the 2006 Australian MTV awards, in front of over a million viewers worldwide. Gunz is also one of the few DJs who has been offered a spot as a Mixmaster on The Edge 96.1FM, the first urban radio station in Sydney.
