Crazy Penis

Crazy Penis started way back in 1996 as the brainchild of Chris Todd and James Baron. The bastard love child of some dusty vinyl and an Atari, the work created in a small bedroom studio in Nottingham soon came to the attention of legendary Manchester deep house label paperecordings.

With the success of the first releases, such as the now hard to find classic 'summer bummer' the boys at paper scraped together an advance in cash and tea-bags and offered Chris and Jim the chance to produce an album which resulted in the release of '….a nice hot bath with' in 1998. At this point, the lads were joined by bass player Tim Davies for additional writing, recording and his tea making abilities. The requests for live shows started coming in and the boys set off around the UK reproducing the Crazy Penis sound live, often all crammed into the DJ booth.

As work started on the second album 'the wicked is music' it seemed a natural progression to include vocals (and they had earned enough cash to by their first mic.) The issue of who would sing was soon resolved when they met Danielle Moore belting out comedy versions of Shirley Bassey songs in the early hours at a house party in Manchester. Dani quickly proved her worth in the studio and the first collaboration 'you started something' is still a favourite at the live shows.

Over the next few years the strength of the live performances increased and it was time to add in the real drums, firstly with former cream percussionist Mav (since retired to produce kids and fly choppers) and then with in demand cockney beat generator Matt Klose.

Since then, with the release of '24hr psychedelic freakout' in 2003 and 'a night on earth' in 2005, the five-piece band have toured extensively across the globe as Crazy Penis and Crazy P (for those who can't bring themselves to say "Penis") bringing a finesse to the show and leaving a trail of music lovers behind them spreading the word. Currently putting the finishing touches to the next album, Crazy Penis are ready to bring life and soul to a stage near you soon…..watch out !
